This resource provides an opportunity to answer the question, What is literature? as well as what makes a digital story. Having read “To Kill a Mockingbird,” students will discuss the book and answer questions using an open-ended response system. An example of a guiding question is, What moves fiction from mediocrity to literature? The students will demonstrate they can form cause and effect theories by expressing their ideas in a digital story and in an accompanying essay. A rubric is included to guide the digital story and the essay. This resource is aligned to standards for English Language Arts in grade 9 in writing an informational/expository essay with speculation, connection, and evidence.
