One semester course to provide necessary background for transfer level Statistics. Full resources from initial offerings at Los Medanos College, plus resources and discussions from our Spring 2011 faculty study group.
Several instructors in CSM's English department have developed a program called Writing in the End Zone (WEZ). The program was/is designed to improve the success rate of under-performing football players in their writing courses. The program began about 6 years ago and has demonstrated significant success.
Briefly, the program creates a class consisting entirely of football players, focuses all writing assignments around football related issues, and builds a team atmosphere in the classroom. Last semester we attempted to apply this idea to algebra creating Algebra in the End Zone (AEZ). I have attached the latest write-up of my reflections on the AEZ experience last semester and some of the course resources.
Feel free to add Comments so that we can share ideas on this project.
