Reviewer Comments:

This is a great painting that could be used in a unit on Westward Expansion in a US History course. The contributor mentions the idea that students could analyze the painting and connect it to the concept of manifest destiny. Teachers could provide background information about the painter and the time period in preparation for the analysis. A series of questions could be created from basic ones such as having students identify key symbols in the painting to more challenging ones such as asking students to explore specific events that may connect to what is being depicted in the painting. In order to make this resource more accessible to the Curriki community, it would be helpful for the contributor to update the keywords, set the ICT, and include a more detailed lesson plan.
