Increasingly, scientists are creating links among their specialties by viewing their research in terms of the Earth system. In every region of the world, these systems combine to create unique environments. This site briefly describes each of the Earth's systems (lithosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, biosphere, and space) and notes the Everglades as an example of a unique environment that was created by the interaction of these systems. In a video segment adapted from the television program 'ZOOM', a boy takes viewers into the Everglades and describes the physical and biological aspects of this wetland biome. Discussion questions are also included.
