Published and produced by the Department of Anthropology at the California Academy of Sciences, this rich collection contains approximately 17,000 objects consisting of ethnographic and archaeological materials of indigenous cultures of western North America (exclusive of Mexico), the Pacific Rim (including all Pacific islands and East Asia), the US Southwest and the Pacific Islands, East Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and Central and South America. Although a work-in-progress, the database also includes 7,000 digital images, and is searchable by category, object name, materials, maker's name, collection, culture, global region, country, state, or county.
