In this unit, students create an interactive advertisement while learning about art history. Students develop collaborative skills, research historical facts, present information in a convincing manner, and build computer programming skills. Students began by dividing into groups to research aspects of the follow art styles: Renaissance, Impressionism, Cubism, Pop Art, Ancient Egyptian, and Ancient Greek. One group learns to use Scratch to record information. Students share their findings with the class. Then, students select one art style to research in greater depth by creating an advertisement promoting this art style. They define art advertisement strategies, write their own slogan, and plan their ad layout. Using Google Draw, students create their layout. Finally, students all use Scratch and a Makey-Makey to record their information and present to the class.
