Description:

This is a course website for teaching galaxies and the expanding universe in one semester to introductory astronomy non-science majors. It contains a syllabus, lectures, links to internet resources, and quizzes. The text used is Pathways of Astronomy by Schneider and Arny. The site was developed by James Schombert, University of Oregon. Topics include: historical cosmology, fundamental particles, forces, relativity, galaxies, the structure of the universe, dark matter, dark energy, inflation, nucleosynthesis, the CMB, galaxy formation, and the fate of the universe.
