Reviewer Comments:

This FlashVideo provides an introduction to understanding Author’s Purpose. Great definitions for: persuade, entertain, describe, inform and express are provided. The student is then asked to take a mini quiz to identify the type of writing. The quiz is great and adding more questions to it for students to practice applying what they’ve learned would deepen understanding.

Because students click through the flash video on their own terms and are able to take in and see the information being displayed, this lesson encapsulates an active level of meaningful learning. The questioning portion of the video is more constructive in that students must apply what they’ve just learned, and furthermore that they are provided feedback. Because the lesson relies on technology to function and that the lesson itself is not in educating students how to use said technology, I would say that this lesson represents an adaptation level of technological integration.
