Description:

This activity, created by faculty members at the University of Virginia, addresses the concept of sample space. It provides a multi-step procedure and three handouts, which accompany the activity. The activities are either basketball or badminton lesson plans, for a gym teacher. Students are divided in half and form groups to find the most efficient use of gym class time. It addresses events and the availability misconception as well as grouping and forming committees. This is a great classroom activity for students learning about statistics.
