Interactive, Graphic Organizer/Worksheet


This project is excellent when you have completed content on lines. It has students create their own data and graph it and then choose a reasonable line, which represents their data. The data comes from measurement of how far a Barbie doll bungee jumps, using rubber bands and a tape measure. From there, they find the equation of their line (this will be unique for each group since each will be working with a different Barbie doll) and answer questions related to their doll’s bungee jumping habits using their equation. The project folder, accessible from the drill-down line at the top of the screen, also contains a pdf copy of the Student Handout and a Teaching Plan & Tips. If you use edit this file to customize for your students, please add your copy to the folder with comments about the changes you made.

This resource is a PowerPoint slide show that covers changes on the Western Frontier including the Dawes Act, the Battle of Wounded Knee, the Homestead Act, the Panic of 1893, and Populism. In addition to content, there are a few images and the presentation ends with an overview of an assignment. The assignment instructs students to research an Indian War and create a presentation. The information in the slide show is accurate and well-organized. It is recommended that adding additional images and animation would increase student engagement.
