Description:

This Exploratorium site contains an activity about afterimages, the lingering images seen after staring at a particular stimulus. Participants look at bird shapes of different colors for a while and then look away, seeing the bird in a different color. The site provides an explanation of what happens and supplies some extension activities including one using a green, black, and yellow American flag. This activity is part of Exploratorium's Science Snacks series.
