Reviewer Comments:

This excellent resource is designed to help students create their own “book trailers” – mediated previews or PowerPoint “talks” to entice others to read a book. Much like movie trailers, these book trailers are coming attraction for the book and pique the viewer’s interest in the book. The students are given clear guidelines as to what is to be included in the trailer: main characters, setting, plot elements, points of conflict/struggle, theme – beginning with an engaging hook, not telling the whole story and leaving the audience with, perhaps a cliff hanger. Students create audio and video and are guided to sites that provide those resources. Students are given story board templates to line out their images and text. This is an incredibly creative way to ask students to synthesize a book they have read and share it with others, while building myriad skills as learners themselves.
