The heart of this site is Boxmind's Online Library, which is a collection of Websites selected for their academic relevance and organized by subject. The search interface is a little strange at first, but easy enough to figure out. Users can choose from 27 subject areas, each with numerous sub-categories, to retrieve a list of briefly annotated Websites on that subject. Searches can also be narrowed according to site properties (content type, author, or language) or by the time periods or geographical regions covered by the listed sites. Free registration allows users to save collections of searches for future use, and to create personal reading lists of frequently visited sites. Also at this site and described as "available soon by subscription" is a collection of "e-lectures," each of which will include a streaming video of the lecturer speaking, a slide show that illustrates points in the lecture, a hyperlinked outline of the lecture, and the lecture transcript. One sample lecture, which requires a Windows platform and Internet Explorer 4.0+, is available for free viewing at the site.
