Description:

The Christopher Columbus Innovation will help challenge our middle school students to explore opportunities for positive change in their communities. The program will involve students in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Teams of up to four students and a coach will identify a community issue and use the scientific process to solve it. Creative, curious- minded students will define and refine their innovative idea throughout the year. Students will research and design a product to test their idea. Products will then be evaluated in order to move up in the competition. Eight finalist teams will win an all-expense-paid trip to Walt Disney World, where they compete for U.S. Savings Bonds and the $25,000 Columbus Foundation Community Grant to help bring their idea to life in their community.
