Reviewer Comments:

This resource is a lesson on generating interest in writing family stories. Patricia Polacco’s, The Keeping Quilt is offered as a Read Loud model and introduction to the process. A resource for memory mapping is linked as a way to deepen engagement in the process. It is suggested that guidelines and sample questions are sent home so families can help students interview family members and create personal narratives for writing a family story. While this lesson offers a great framework to guide the process, to be usable, it needs to be fleshed out, i.e. sample questions, newsletters to parents, more info on the writing process.
