Reviewer Comments:

This collection includes valuable resources for teaching about the Civil War. Highlights include an examination of John Brown as a hero or villain and a powerpoint presentation on how the end of the Civil War impacted newly freed slaves. The materials are thoughtful, varied, and accurate, and they would benefit both middle and high school teachers as the cover the events of the Civil War. Most of the lessons include standards, procedures, and links to relevant materials. It should be noted that the materials are not a comprehensive study of the Civil War but rather very good lessons that could be used within a larger unit on the time period.
