The Penn State Center for Nanotechnology Education and Utilization (CNEU) is the home of the Pennsylvania Nanofabrication Manufacturing Technology (NMT) Partnership and the National Science Foundation (NSF) Regional Center for Nanofabrication Manufacturing Education, an NSF-sponsored regional Advanced Technology Education (ATE) Center. CNEU is dedicated to research, development, and education across all aspects of micro- and nanotechnology and the resources of the Center are focused on the incorporation of nanotechnology into secondary education, post-secondary education, and industry applications. Here, CNEU provides educational activities. CNEU plans to keep adding to their educational tools, but currently there is only one activity available: Amazing Creatures with Nanoscale Features. This animation is an introduction to microscopy, scale, and applications of nanoscale properties. The activity introduces students to some of the scientific tools utilized including: the optical microscope, scanning electron microscope, and the atomic force microscope. Overall, the activity will prove quite useful to educators and students in an introductory nanotechnology class. [CMH]
