Type:

Fiction

Description:

The Think-Aloud helps students formulate questions before, during, and after reading the novel. It also can help them make predictions about what will happen and when, based on what they learn in a selected reading passage. The Reading Selection for this passage is the final four paragraphs of Chapter 16, starting with the beginning of the fourth-to-last paragraph of the chapter (“Janie tried that, but short of telling Mrs. Turner bluntly, there was nothing she could do to discourage her completely…”) and continuing through to the end of the chapter.
