This centers-based lesson on comparing whole numbers is designed for two-days of 45-minute lessons or one-day of a 90-minute lesson block. The lesson provides differentiated instruction using the H.O.P. Centers Framework. H.O.P. stands for Hands-On, Open-Ended, and Practice which are the themes for each of the three centers in the framework. Lesson structure is designed using brain research principles. In this lesson students will learn how to compare whole numbers with a short engaging lesson, hands-on sorting activity, practice writing about a word problem using whole number comparisons, and engage in tiered practice of the concept.

Reviewer Comments:

This basic math lesson gives students practice comparing numbers. It includes a specific lesson plan telling the layout of the lesson, some practice worksheets, and a hands-on activity where students can hold up cards to show how numbers compare to each other. There is also a presentation saved as a “Notebook” which the CRS Reviewer can not open to review. If this was saved as a PDF or Powerpoint project, it would be more accessible to anyone using it.
