This critical thinking guide was developed to build students' abilities to compare and contrast information. The guide includes a tip sheet, flow chart, and two graphic organizers to guide students through the thought processes involved in comparing and contrasting. The tip sheet breaks down the comparing and contrasting process into steps for student and includes questions that students can reflect on at each step. Students are instructed to use the graphic organizer templates (a matrix and a Venn diagram) in conjunction with the tip sheet. These graphic organizers are tools that students can use to organize and evaluate the results of their analysis. The guide is offered in an easy-to-print format, and although it is offered on a site about the future of energy, its content is not specific to any one subject matter.
