This is a follow-up assignment to the D-Day Powerpoint presentation resource. It is a thoughtful assignment that asks the students to write a journal entry from the perspective of a soldier. It has clear directions and includes a general rubric for assessing student work. This type of assignment is one that could be easily adapted for lots of different time periods and events in many different history classes. It gives the students an opportunity to try to experience what people might have been going through during a specific event. A more detailed rubric would be beneficial for both students and teachers to understand exactly what is expected of the assignment.
