Reviewer Comments:

This lesson provides a justification to the introduction of complex numbers. Student wondering "Why do we need these things?" are lead to consider, by analogy, the introduction of negatives, rationals, and algebraic numbers, each kind of equation leading to a larger set of "numbers". In just a few minutes, students can appreciate the passage and get to work on the properties of complex numbers.
