This lesson attempts to answer the question, "What exactly is pushing back on a rocket when it is launched?" Up to this point, students have worked with Newton's Laws of Motion and rocket launches, but haven't yet answered the question of why we need so much force when launching rockets. This lesson introduces students to the composition, layers, and pressure of the atmosphere.

This Jeopardy-style game has the potential of being a good way to practice answering questions about the place of integers on a number line, missing integers on a number line, and comparing the size of numbers. Unfortunately, when a box on the game board was chosen, the viewer is always directed to the same question: Category 1, Question 1. Also, Category 2, Question 3 does not make sense and does not correspond with the answer that is provided for it. Most of the questions are good and this activity would be useful in the classroom as an informal assessment or practice activity.
