Reviewer Comments:

This is an excellent, hands-on lab using a chicken egg, tomatoes and kiwi to illustrate the selective permeability of the cell membrane and is appropriate for the middle school level. By putting these egg models in various liquids, students can observe changes in the size of each by measuring mass and circumference. The structured write up is clear and helps walk students through the process. However, the data table (as written) does not match the procedure (as written) and needs additional clarification and revision. In addition, the inclusion of teacher background information, sample data and anticipated answer key would make this resource more immediately useful to teachers trying it out for the first time.
