Description:

This unit is designed to introduce middle school students to Powerpoint. This unit teaches them how to make their own Powerpoint presentation in order to conduct a student led parent/teacher conference. It is designed to be taught twice a week for 45 minutes sessions. However, the design of the unit is extremely flexible and can be adapted to fit your own needs.

This rich resource has 3 children or parts, each robust with more parts. The first is a Scope and Sequence outlining nine weeks of lessons on power points with a web quest activity. The second child, Student Resources, has several parts which offer detailed lessons about Power Points - including, vocabulary, definitions, purpose, presentation, pictures. Also provided are detailed rubrics – a Power Point rubric, a webquest rubric and a rubric for oral presentations. Sample student PowerPoints are linked as well, along with valuable tips for creating PowerPoints. The Teacher Resource section of the resource is the third part and is a wealth of information all alone. It contains specific detailed weekly lessons, replete with KWL charts, quizzes and answers, criteria to consider in creating Power Points and materials needed, all procedures and assessments.
