Digital image editing project. This project assumes that students have a familiarity with selection, transformation, layers, and history tools in a digital image editing program such as the GIMP or Photoshop. It is most effective when paired with a critical look at the use of digital photo editing techniques in mass media (see my related collections.)

This resource is geared towards high school students, or any students with experience in digital editing software such as Photoshop. In this activity, students will work independently, following step-by-step instructions to create a chimera of two existing photos. It is suggested that this activity is used alongside a lesson on digital manipulation in the media. The resource itself includes an html file as well as a collection of steps built into the Currikulum Builder. Although there is a rubric included, it is very general and could be enhanced by more specific student requirements.
