Reviewer Comments:

This 4-week unit of 17 lessons is intended for fourth grade, but could easily be adapted for use in other elementary classrooms. Throughout the unit, students will have hands-on experiences with basic concepts of physics, such as motion, force, work, energy and machines. Each lesson opens with a question of the day (QOTD), which immediately focuses students on the day’s task. Each lesson also ends with a suggested assessment type. This unit is exceptionally well organized and breaks the content into manageable chunks of content. However, many of the mentioned lesson parts, such as text passages, homework assignments, labs, quizzes, PowerPoint presentations and videos are not included. Any teacher using this unit in his or her own classroom would need to find or substitute these missing pieces. However, this unit does incorporate a number of high-quality websites, and the URLs are included. The author does note that both Study Jams and Brainpop, both excellent online resources, require a paid subscription.

Very impressive. I like how everything is broken down into days with short quizes to keep up with the progression of knowledge. The quizes can be a great asset for reviewing for the test too.
