Families USA is a health care consumer watchdog organization that works at both the national and state levels. This new report offers a comparison of the health care received by insured and uninsured people who have five common health conditions: heart disease, hypertension, high blood cholesterol, arthritis, and chronic back pain. The report finds significant disparities in the quality of care received by both groups. Among other things, the uninsured receive half the number of lab tests, are much more likely to go without medicines, and have significantly fewer visits to doctors' offices.
