Description:

This CAP addresses the third-grade New York State Social Studies Core Curriculum, Communities Around the World – Learning About People and Places, and scaffolds the students’ understanding of world communities. The students will learn about the social, political, geographic, economic, and historic characteristics of different world communities, beginning with their own. In addition, the activities included will help educators differentiate the curriculum for the English Language Learners (ELLs) in their classrooms. Please Note: The activities included as part of this unit are based on a “balanced literacy” approach to teaching.
