This resource is an outline for teaching the novel Cat’s Cradle, under the umbrella of Reflecting the World. While the big ideas about literature and author’s purpose, objectives, and a plan and schedule for assessment are laid out clearly, the actual tests and questions specific to Cat’s Cradle are not included. There is time for discussion but reading strategies (i.e. vocabulary development, pre, during and post-reading questions) are not addressed. As the culminating project, students are asked to create artistic representations concerning purpose of literature, the ability of readers to relate to a literary piece, author’s purpose and how literary elements allow us to uncover these threads. However, minimal guidelines are provided.
