Reviewer Comments:

This resource offers three days of lesson plans plus extension activities for using a graphic organizer to teach main idea and supporting details, using a text about Gorillas. The fishbone map graphic organizer is introduced and used as a semantic web to highlight relationships among ideas, specifically cause and effect. A whole group, well modeled, direct instruction lesson is provided. Guided practice evolves into a Think-Pair-Share activity. Students use the graphic to work independently and share what they know, using a rubric. Internet resources are provided for further exploration. All materials are included.
