Description:

Chesapeake Bay Watermen harvest oysters from the depths of the bay. These oysters were caught using a process called dredging. Watermen locate an oyster bed, drop a net down to the bottom, and drag it behind the boat. They then pull up the oysters and sort through them, tossing back any oysters that are too small or not living.
