This course was first offered at Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Brandeis (BOLLI) in 2008, and is geared towards adult learners. However, pieces of this collection may be used at various educational levels. The class utilizes an online electronic bulletin board (eBoard) and a series of 10 modules (90 minutes in length), each structured around a PowerPoint presentation. Topics include the basics of internet connections and browsers, searching, downloading, using various online tools, and safety. All course materials are provided, including handouts, homework assignments, lesson plans and presentations, and reference materials. The handouts are Windows-based and very site-specific and may need to be adapted for use outside of the BOLLI program. The program also requests the following prerequisites for participation: basic keyboarding skills, a familiarity with personal computers, an email address and basic email skills, and a PC at home with an Internet browser installed.
