In this three-lesson statistics unit, the concept of mean is taught using the theme of trains. This comprehensive unit covers finding the mean, median, mode, and range of data sets, displaying data on a line plot, and creating stem and leaf plots for the data. In the final lesson students compare the data representations to determine when one might be more useful than another. The unit includes a pre-assessment, students worksheets, exit tickets, post assessment, with answer keys for all included, and links throughout for interactive simulations.
