These educational resources enable students to learn about the Hubbard Brook Ecosystem Study (HBES), a long-term ecological research project dedicated to the study of forest and stream ecosystems. The student section provides a virtual introduction and tour, a glossary, information on new research on acid rain and watersheds, and information about HBES scientists. The teacher's page provides access to classroom activties and handouts designed to accompany the student introduction and tour. There is also a teacher's manual with activities that introduce students to the Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) program, teach basic ecological principles and inquiry skills, and make students aware of the value of long-term research as a basis for conservation management and regional planning decisions.
