From the National Center for Optics and Photonics Education (OP-TEC) and Dr. Chrys Panayiotou of Indian River State College, this program planning guide is for "community/technical college planners (technical program chairs, deans and faculty) to enable them to determine whether and how to include photonics education in existing programs." This particular guide discusses infusing the biomedical applications of photonics into electronics engineering technology programs. The guide is divided up into seven chapters; they cover the basics of photonics for technicians, curriculum, materials, courses, labs and equipment, teaching and training for faculty, and connecting to high school students for recruitment. This resource is very helpful for any community or technical college looking to integrate photonics into other degree programs, or develop new photonics education curriculum.
