From the National Center for Optics and Photonics Education (OP-TEC) and John Pedrotti of Texas State Technical College in Waco, this program planning guide is for "community/technical college planners (technical program chairs, deans and faculty) to enable them to determine whether and how to include photonics education in existing programs." This particular guide discusses how to include photonics education into optoelectronics programs. The guide is divided up into seven chapters; they cover the basics of photonics for technicians, curriculum, materials, courses, labs and equipment, teaching and training for faculty, and connecting to high school students for recruitment. This resource is very helpful for any community or technical college looking to integrate photonics into other degree programs, or develop new photonics education curriculum.
