Reviewer Comments:

For this activity, students research different aspects of the Holocaust and then work in groups to create a newscast about what they learned. While the overall task is outlined, there is a need for more scaffolding throughout the activity. For example, a graphic organizer for notetaking would benefit students as they conduct their research and a sample of final newscast would give students expectations for the project. To complete this activity, students need computer access as well as knowledge of podcasting, audacity or garage band, and powerpoint. Some research websites are included but it would be necessary to create a more comprehensive list to guide students through their research. The United States Holocaust Museum website would be an excellent resource to include as a primary site to collect relevant information. Also note that the rubric is incomplete and would need to be constructed prior to implementing the lesson. There is another resource on Curriki for teachers that provides background for this activity.
