Interactive, E-book

This lab deals with the activity series of metals. Objectives include: 1) Observe the reactivity of common metals. 2) Be able to predict the products of a single replacement reaction between a metal and an acid. 3) Be able to write and balance equations for these reactions.

This Lab is misplaced, but does have value here. Active metal series is a redox topic with active metals easily giving up electrons and the least active metals retaining or gaining electrons if ions; jewelry metals are the least active metals.

In this introductory context, a lab would focus on characteristics of metals and nonmetals. Inclusion of physical properties and examples of nonmetals would be more appropriate.
