Reviewer Comments:

This contribution includes a series of interesting opening day activities. While the lessons are intended for 7th graders, many of them are appropriate for any middle or high school Social Studies classroom. Some of the most useful elements are the Student Interest Survey which is the homework assignment and the "Do Now" questions about what students learned in previous classrooms and what they hope to learn. This contribution is definitely geared toward a specific classroom, however, a teacher might get ideas as to how to structure the first day of class as well as some valuable activities.
