In this reference included in the "OurStory'' module from the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History entitled Life in a Sod House, students will learn about life on the prairie and in sod houses. Discussed through the use of text and photographs are the Homestead Act, everyday life on the prairie and the challenges and realities of building and living in a sod house. "OurStory'' is a series of modules designed to help children and adults enjoy exploring history together through the use of objects from the Museum's vast collections, quality children's literature, and engaging hands-on activities.
