This collection contains three Imagination Lesson Plans—for elementary, middle, and high school levels, respectively—built around Rapid Still, a digital work of art. These Lesson Plans grow out of Lincoln Center Institute's methodology for imaginative learning. Rapid Still was choreographed and performed by dancer and choreographer Brian Brooks. He jumped into the air—both vertically and horizontally—over 800 times in order to create this short film. The jumps are pieced together in such a manner that he appears to float in an ethereal fashion, then fight to keep himself from crashing to earth. While composed of the actual sounds of his physical efforts, the soundtrack becomes a commentary on the action in and of itself. The first in a planned series of dance films, Rapid Still is both ethereal and exhilarating.
