In this motivational rap music video, a familiar song with a catchy beat reviews the basics of slope-intercept form and graphing.  Instructional note: I like to play math songs, raps, and videos as students enter the room to get them excited about exploring new concepts.  I also use them to increase engagement during review activities for assessments. Students who are not even on my roster hear the music as they walk down the hallway and say, "Man, I wish I was in that math class!"

I chose to use this video because I feel that it is a great way to get your students to learn how to add/double their numbers.  By having them learn through songs is helpful in helping them remember their addition.

This is a sing-a-long video that teaches how many days are in a week. Along with bright colors and a good song, it is interactive with the students and makes them do different things while singing and learning the days.

Square One Math TV Show

by April Riley Tate

So, this is totally cheesy - but fun.  Square One was a math tv show for kids on PBS way back in the day.  It's very dated now (watch the music videos if you want a laugh), but really funny and would still be entertaining to elementary age students.  Individual sketches are available on Youtube.com as well.

I chose this video because learning place value could be difficult at first for children.  I recommend showing this video to your students, because not only are they able to hear and see what numbers represent which place value, but there are also the use of pictures which allow them to relate both the number and place value together.

Khan Academy Math Videos

by April Riley Tate

I discovered some really clear and well-structured math videos on the Khan Academy website - they are semi-animated and arranged very thoughtfully according to concept.  These would make a great instructional support either as a whole group experience or individually.
