This resource guide from the Middle School Portal 2 project, written specifically for teachers, provides links to exemplary resources including background information, lessons, career information, and related national science education standards. Middle school teachers will find online resources in this publication that were hand-picked to assist them in teaching about evolution, the unifying theory in biological science. The resources are organized into three sets: teacher help, background information for students, and lessons and activities. The teacher help set is comprised of materials such as a tutorial and an online course about the science of evolution and how to teach it. National Science Education Standards related to evolution are also provided. Teaching tips and usage suggestions are offered in the introductions to each set of resources and in the descriptions of individual resources. Together, the resources address topics such as natural selection, adaptation, and Charles Darwin and the formation of evolutionary theory.
