This is definitely an interesting activity because it forces the students to interpret what they have learned from reading the novel and apply it to their own lives. However, it does seem simplistic for a high school assignment. I think this assignment would be better suited for a middle school classroom.

The homework assignments are also not developed enough to be used multiple times. If you would like the students to create a timeline, then assign that to them at the end of the novel. If you would like them to write about how the symbolism of night is depicted in the first chapter, then assign that when you start reading the novel.
