Description:

This Earth science animation for middle and high school students demonstrates that plate tectonics can increase a continent's size at a convergent boundary. In the animation, when an oceanic plate that is moving a terrane subducts under a continental plate, the terrane attaches to the edge of the continent. Volcanic activity caused by the subduction is also shown. Key features in the animation are labeled, and a paragraph introduces it.
