Reviewer Comments:

This unit consists of six standards-based lessons divided into two main content sections, one focusing on the Saturn system, including its moons, and the other focusing on the people and machines of Cassini Mission. These lessons have been designed for students in grades 5 – 8, but may be adapted for use with other educational levels. The first page of each comprehensive lesson lists the topics, activities, standards, time required, prerequisite student skills, and equipment and materials needed. There is also clear and detailed teacher background information. Each lesson is divided into four parts: Part I explores the students’ understanding of the fundamental concept of the lesson; Part II challenges the students to make connections through hands-on activities, problem solving, or design projects; Part III offers an assessment activity for the lesson; and Part IV provides questions for reflection, which can be used in a variety of ways. This collection also includes a number of enrichment activities, including Saturn art, poetry, puzzles, mythology as well as skycharts for locating Saturn in the night sky.
