New lesson plans from National Geographic Society and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration promote knowledge about the ocean and marine life. The series of lessons and videos highlights a wide range of topics, with lesson plans such as Hawaiian Hot Spots, which features volcanic activity in the Hawaiian archipelago, including the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands Marine National Monument and Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary; Shipwrecks of the Channel Islands, which teaches students about shipwrecks off the coast of California in the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary, and Predators Among Us, which looks at the impact humans can have on coral reef ecosystems like that of Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary in the Gulf of Mexico.
