The Paleontological Research Institution (PRI) of Ithaca, New York supports the Museum of the Earth, which houses extensive collections of fossil vertebrates and invertebrates, particularly type and figured specimens. The web site's collections page allows users to view selected groups of specimens and search the type and figured specimen collection by taxonomic group, catalog number, locality, author, geologic time, and other parameters. It also includes a set of exercises that let users gain hands-on experience and understand the importance of fossils and paleontology. The education page features information on evolution and creationism, a tutorial on petroleum geology, and virtual field trips to locations around the United States. There is also information on in-house programs and real field trips, teacher guides to regional geology, and a downloadable booklet on PRI educational programs.
