This virtual manipulative enables the student to examine and experiment with relationships and patterns found in Pascal's triangle. Pascal's triangle is an infinite triangular arrangement of numbers where each number is the sum of the two numbers found above it in the previous line. The numbers represent many mathematical realities, including the number of ways to chose n objects from a set of m indistinguishable items. Also, the nth row of numbers displays the coefficients of a binomial raised to the n-1 power. Included are instructions for using the manipulative, background and teaching suggestions, and a link to the NCTM standard for number and operations.
